Cave Art
Fall 2007.

After examining Ice Age art and the cave paintings of Lescaux and Altamira, students made charcoal drawings of animals.

Hieroglyphic Writing on Papyrus Scrolls

Papyrus scrolls are made with a cardboard tube for a base, a strip of natural papyrus, and orange raffia for a tie.

Ancient Islamic Art (Persia)
January 2011.

After learning about the intellectual achievements of the Golden Age of Islam and viewing examples of their decorative motifs and tessellated patterns, students made block prints and experimented with rotational symmetry.
